One of the best things about participating in the CAPA Marquee Awards is the opportunity to participate in professional theatre education activities throughout the year!
In addition to working with Broadway touring artists, we are also holding a series of workshops with professional, local artists throughout the year.
DANCE AUDITION WORKSHOP
This workshop will focus on musical theatre dance. During the workshop, student performers will be put through the paces of a musical theatre dance call, so you should come ready to dance in clothing appropriate for a musical theatre dance audition, including closed-toed and closed-heeled shoes. Students should also bring a bottle of water.
Saturday, February 19, 12-1:30 pm
Ohio Theatre, Room 1
55 E. State St.
Columbus, OH 43215
WHAT TO BRING:
You do not need to prepare anything. Bring something to take notes, if desired.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
To participate in this workshop, students MUST submit the online 21-22 CMA Media Release Form and the 21-22 CMA Emergency Medical Form. Both forms must be signed by both the student and the student’s parent/guardian. Your registration will not be considered complete until you have signed up for a workshop slot and submitted these forms.
Please note: If you have already submitted these forms for a prior education workshop or master class, you do not need to submit them again.
Broadway Master Classes
We will be holding FREE master classes for several of the Broadway in Columbus productions this season. All participating CAPA Marquee Awards schools will have the opportunity to sign up students for available slots. All Broadway classes are subject to the tour’s availability and therefore, are subject to change.
BROADWAY LEAGUE VIRTUAL SPEAKER SERIES
The CAPA Marquee Awards along with Cleveland’s Dazzle Awards and Dayton’s Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards will be participating in a three-part virtual speaker series hosted by The Broadway League. This series will take place on Zoom and will feature Broadway professionals in New York City who are eager to share their expertise with you. Each hour-long session will include a panel discussion about a particular “off-stage” topic and a Q&A. You do not need to prepare anything for these sessions but should bring any questions you have for the featured Broadway professionals.
First Session: Wednesday, December 1, 4 -5 pm – Designing and Building a Show
Second Session: Wednesday, January 19, 4 -5 pm – Press and Marketing a Show
Third Session: TBA – Producing and Casting a Show
