One of the best things about participating in the CAPA Marquee Awards is the opportunity to participate in professional theatre education activities throughout the year!

Broadway Master Classes

We will be holding FREE master classes for several of the Broadway in Columbus productions this season. All participating CAPA Marquee Awards schools will have the opportunity to sign up students for available slots.

Please note: All Broadway master classes are subject to the tour’s availability and therefore, are subject to change.

Workshops

In addition to working with Broadway touring artists, we are also holding a series of workshops with professional, local artists throughout the year.

Student Reporter Press Pass Program!

Introducing the Student Reporter Press Pass program! Shadow the CAPA digital marketing team to better understand how we create videos and posts for social media. In this program, we will select up to 2 students per show to be our resident reporters at select 25-26 Broadway in Columbus shows. The students chosen will get the chance to film videos, interview patrons, and experience a Broadway performance. There is no cost to participate in this program.

No prior experience required! This program is designed to be an introduction to student reporting, content creation, and social media management. This is also the perfect learning opportunity before applying for the student reporter search with the National High School Musical Theatre Awards to cover the Jimmy Awards.

NOTE: Participation is not a pre-requisite to apply for National Student Reporter.

Participating Shows for this season:

  • Back to the Future (Tuesday, January 6, 2026)
  • Les Misérables (Tuesday, January 27, 2026)
  • The Sound of Music (Tuesday, February 24, 2026)

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

  • 25-26 CAPA Marquee Schools: Must be a current student at one of the 2025–2026 CAPA Marquee Schools.
  • Pre-Show Engagement: Must actively brainstorm and prepare engaging questions or interactive games to play with patrons prior to the performance.
  • On-Camera Participation: Must be comfortable appearing on camera in some capacity (e.g., interviews, hosting segments, or capturing audience interactions).
  • Equipment: Must bring a personal cell phone capable of recording video footage.

Students will be contacted within a month of the performance if they are selected.

Each student selected will be eligible to participate for one show per Broadway season. While participation in the program may help you sharpen your skills as a student reporter, it will not give you any other advantage if you decide to submit for National Student Reporter. Participating in the program does not guarantee the footage or photos taken before or after the performance will be posted on any of CAPA’s social media channels.

Applications are now closed.
