Workshops and Classes

In addition to working with Broadway touring artist, we are also holding a series of workshops with professional, local artists throughout the year.

Workshop #1: Basic Stage Makeup and Wig Prep

Date: Saturday, February 6
Time: 10:30 am-12 pm
Location: Zoom

Head of the Wig and Makeup department for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, Tera Willis will teach participants how to apply basic stage makeup and how to prepare hair to wear a wig.

Preparation: This workshop will be conducted as an interactive demonstration; however, if you have hair and makeup supplies (stage and/or street makeup, comb or brush, bobby pins, wig cap, mirror, etc.), feel free to join along while Tera’s demonstrating.

Tera Willis is the head of the Wig and Makeup Department at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City where she has worked for nine years. She has previously worked on several Broadway shows, including The Lion King, and is currently working on several film productions with both Netflix and HBO. Tera holds an MFA in Wig and Makeup Design from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Tera is a proud member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 798.

Workshop #2: Old Age and Special Effects Makeup

Date: Saturday, February 6
Time: 12:30 pm-2 pm
Location: Zoom

Head of the Wig and Makeup department for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, Tera Willis will teach participants how to create special effects makeup for the stage, including how to apply old age makeup and basic cuts and bruises.

Preparation: This workshop will be conducted as an interactive demonstration; however, if you have makeup supplies (stage and/or street makeup, sponges, brushes, mirror, etc.), feel free to join along while Tera’s demonstrating.

Broadway Master Classes

We will be holding FREE master classes for several of the Broadway in Columbus productions this season. All participating CAPA Marquee Awards schools will have the opportunity to sign up students for available slots. All Broadway master classes are subject to the tour’s availability and therefore, are subject to change.
