One of the best things about participating in the CAPA Marquee Awards is the opportunity to participate in professional theatre education activities throughout the year!
Workshops and Classes
In addition to working with Broadway touring artists, we are also holding a series of workshops with professional, local artists throughout the year.
THE ART OF THE UNDERSTUDY
In THE ART OF THE UNDERSTUDY, you’ll learn about the importance of understudies and how to fulfill that role like a professional. Topics will include:
- Who becomes an understudy and why
- Understudy vocabulary and the expectations for various types of understudies (understudy, swing, standby, etc.)
- How understudies behave in regular and tech/dress rehearsals, and how they interact with the cast and production team
- Tips on how to take notes and learn understudy assignments
- What an understudy rehearsal looks like and how to participate in one
- Understudy expectations once a production is in performance
